In the unfortunate case you experienced an incident and need to file a claim, you want to be prepared with the right information and documents. This will help your filing process run smoothly and help ensure you have everything your claims adjuster may need.
Here’s what you can expect when filing a claim with your ACT insurance policy.
Preparing To File A Claim
Before filing your claim, you want to be sure you have the right paperwork on hand. In addition to any information you may have gathered at the scene of an incident, such as a police report, you may need to have the following information:
- The start and end dates of your insurance policy (effective and expiration dates)
- Receipts for stolen or damaged supplies or equipment
- A copy of an incident report
On your claim, you will need to provide your contact information and a detailed description of the incident. Make sure you have a clear, written account that you can refer to. You will not need to attach any documents or images to the claim at this time, but be prepared to send them to your claims adjuster when they reach out should they need them.
Filing your claim can be done in a matter of minutes online. Simply log into your user account and click on file a claim. Once you submit your claim, you will hear from your claims adjuster in 1-2 days. You will be able to communicate any questions you have with them, and they may ask you for more information like photos, reports, or receipts. Depending on the severity and type of claim, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few years to resolve. Be sure to keep a copy of your claim and any related documents.
