As an artist or crafter, you have probably wondered about where you should sell the products you create. While the answer to this question will likely depend on the specifics of your business, the responses to our Artist, Crafters, and Tradesmen Insurance (ACT) customer survey suggest that many of our artists and crafters prefer to sell their creations at fairs and festivals.
In fact, nearly 90% of ACT customers say that they sell their products at fairs and festivals. So, if you’re new to the business or wondering how to make the most of your sales efforts, starting at traditional fairs is probably a good start. With that being said, a lot of ACT customers are also doing quite a lot of business online.
It doesn’t matter what industry your business falls under, having an online presence is crucial to your success. According to our survey, 44% of our artists and crafters indicated that a personal or business website is the most popular place to sell their products. If you don’t have a website that features your work, consider if setting one up would be right for your business.
While a personal website is a popular way for artists and crafters to sell, many of you who responded to the survey are taking advantage of the digital age in another way. The remaining most popular places to sell were on Etsy and Facebook with 35% and 34%, respectively, of ACT customers saying that they sell their products on these sites.
Clearly, one of the best things about being an artist or crafter is the plethora of places and ways you can sell your products. As fairs and festivals seem to be a favorite with our customers, we’d like to encourage you to checkout our Upcoming Events page for fairs that may be happening in your area, or, if you need to renew or buy a new policy, click here.
